2023 CDW Talent

Hailing from New England, Nova weaves the sounds of Kathleen Fownes' fiery fiddling, Guillaume Sparrow-Pepin's dynamic accordion and piano, and Everest Witman's energetic guitar and foot percussion into a rich tapestry of sound. Nova draws from both traditional repertoire and original compositions to create versatile, high energy, driving contra dance music.

Offbeats feature Ben Schreiber (Dam Beavers, Uncle Farmer) on fiddle, Ashley (Broder) Hoyer (Syncopaths, Root System) on mandolin, and Jeffrey Spero (Syncopaths, Rhythm Raptors) on keyboard. As one might imagine with a pedigree like that, this band is ready to rock your contra socks off!

Will Mentor

Will Mentor is a contra and square dance caller from Northern Vermont known for his clear teaching, upbeat wit, and relaxed stage presence. He loves to choreograph evenings with a variety of dances and tempos that at times surprise and always delight, all the while keeping intact his guiding principle as a caller: "It's about the dancers!"
 

Terry Doyle

Terry Doyle from Morganton, North Carolina, travels far and wide to call contra dances. She currently teaches at Western Piedmont Community College and is co-director of the Appalachian Folk School in Mountain City, Tennessee. While calling, Terry loves to flatfoot on stage to add percussive rhythm sounds.
